Towel Bars: Use Sturdy Support For Towel Bars

How can we get enough support for towel bars?

The question is not as theoretical as it may seem. Towel bars don’t need only to support the towels’ weight; they also have to resist all our nervous attempts of taking a towel. As we need a towel at least three times a day, towel bars need better support than an average kitchen cabinet. A gaping hole in the wall from a town out towel bar is not, not, not what we want!

Find wall studs if possible…

The best solution to this problem is finding wall studs and use good quality screws in order to install towel bars as well as possible. Unfortunately there is only small chance of finding wall studs for your towel bars – so this solution depends more on luck than on anything else.

Or install backing inside the wall if not!

If you failed to find a stud, there is only one alternative left – you have to install backing in the wall to give your towel bars enough support. It needs a lot of work, since before you can actually install towel bars, you will have to open the wall and put really big backing inside it. It’s messy job, but in will ensure that your towel bars won’t fall out of the wall after a few months.

Important consideration:

There might be other, less messy solution – gluing the towel bars right to the wall. It might be not as durable solution as those above, but it will be easier to glue towel bars back than install them again in the same place when the screws has let go.
